About this artwork
I conceived this work as a small object diptych: two cans, two viewing distances, one motif that only truly reveals itself through comparison. I'm not interested in the "perfect" surface, but rather the moment when an everyday object becomes a picture plane – and when that's actually visible.
I deliberately didn't treat the cylinders like canvases. The curve and the top edge are part of the composition: as you move around the object, the perspective… changes. The motif—an ornamental, golden architectural finial—emerges as if from a turquoise sky. It's not a precisely documented architectural reference, but a fragment: something between a spire, an emblem, and a memory. The dark accents are there to give the gold weight and to bring the form out from the blue.
Important if you're a discerning buyer: This is hand-painted and intentionally visible.
