About this artwork
The current series is inspired by the voyage on the Pacific Ocean in California. The pictures speak of the fascination, the vastness, the tranquility and at the same time the power of the ocean. Susanne Pohlmann would like to convey the light, the colours, the sensuality and also the feeling for the size (also in the formats) in her works of art.

« "My passion for the sea is the longing for vastness and infinity, resulting in the feeling of powerful calm and dynamism. This inspires my works again and again." »
Susanne Pohlmann has exhibited her works in Germany, France, Senegal, Morocco, and the USA. The German artist discovered painting through dance—a connection that is still evident in her work today: Her paintings possess a strong inner dynamism and a distinct sense of movement.
A central motif in her work is the sea—as a symbol of the elemental, the constant behind ever-changing places, times, and situations. Her abstract landscapes are less about depicting concrete circumstances than about opening up inner spaces. Her works "stimulate the imagination rather than the material."
Pohlmann works primarily with acrylic on linen or canvas, creating visual compositions that radiate both calm and energy—poetic, multi-layered, and open to personal resonance.
