About this artwork
The volcanic eruptions in La Palma in early 2022, the pervasive infection of the Omicron virus and a summer of intense heat waves in Europe, inspired a mobile gallery installation of eighty plus pieces and the creation of a small series of diptych art works and watercolour collages.
Words, where used, refer to the push pull of emotions associated with incredible physical power and the unstoppable spread of the Covid virus. The elements combined… here are lifted from a collection of words randomly paired be the artist.
In 'Cloud / Inpenetrable', I explore layered textures and swirling patterns derived from my cosmic wave motif, referencing the elements of water and lava playing as vectors in this enormous event.
The round forms are upcycled ice cream lids which have been tethered to the surface with thread.
This will bring a dynamic, contemplative energy to any space—a conversation piece which invites you to reflect on the connection between the word, imagery and event.

Susie Wright is a London born artist and curator who lives and works in Germany. With environment at the heart of her practice, she uses a range of experimental processes to create her own personal iconography. Using her experience of place and landscape, she weaves concepts together into multi-layered collections. Works on paper, installation, painting and digital drawing, make up her portfolio.
