About this artwork
This is not an image of war or an attack, you might remember this incident that devastated Beirut in the Lebanon in 2020.
In this acrylic painting, I strive to capture the dramatic and poignant event that took place in August of that year, when a faillure of health and safety in a warehouse in Beirut harbour, created an explosion in the city, leading to a big loss of life and infrastructure.
I highlight the contrast between serene natural elements… and the turmoil of this unexpected disaster. The vigorous, roiling plumes of smoke blend into the calm blues of sky and water, mirroring the sudden disruptions in our lives. This artwork embodies resilience and reflection, offering a poignant reminder of nature's enduring beauty, amidst our own oversights and failings.
It is a piece that ignites conversation and contemplation, transforming any space with its powerful emotional resonance.
Signed on the back to retain the integrity of the image.
