About this artwork
I started this painting a little while ago, after Covid and right after my burnout. For me, the couch represents rest and some time for yourself. It is only recently that a couch has this meaning for me, because I am always doing something. But my burnout has made me realize that rest is good, on all fronts. The blanket gives warmth. The pillow supports my head, from which new ideas flow. Querencia means a place where you feel safe, and where you… can be yourself. A place you long for and where you feel at home and therefore in your underwear lol. The swimming pool stands for cooling down, because during my burnout I took a cold splash or a cold shower to reset my head. Unfortunately, it didn't always work. The sea also gives me peace as well as the wind through the trees. The yellow butterfly stands for positivity and being happy. Yellow represents warmth, light, hope and positive energy. I've experienced the Caribbean snow 3 times now, and the yellow butterflies are flying everywhere!
Suzanne Domenech, inheriting artistic zeal from her fresco-painting father, explores acrylics and mixed media with a flair for the imaginative. Her technique—an alchemy of spontaneity and emotional symbology, veils narratives within her canvases. Her art pulsates with a raw, unfettered expression of both personal and commissioned emotional landscapes.
