About this artwork
This two-part object made of oak, iron and leather straps from 2018 is the first in the "Transformer series".
The two bodies are each completely surrounded by iron, the coarse, not reworked weld seams underline the "technical" character of this work, which is, however, supplemented by the natural "warmth" of the wood as well as the feel and smell of the leather straps.
The work lives on
he from the pure feel that all objects by Sven Schilling… have, also from the mental and emotional associations that the title triggers in connection with the form.

« I am an artist who works innovatively and unconventionally with familiar natural materials. Rough and delicate, nature is the teacher! Sensual art that touches. »
Sven Schilling is a German sculptor whose works explore the connection between man and nature, the integration of man into the cosmos as it is formulated in anthroposophy. His compositions are exclusively created using oak, iron, and leather because he is fascinated by their feel. Also, Schilling prefers these materials as they have significance in the history of craftsmanship as well as in religions and myths.
