What the art-animist Beuys would have said about the works of Sven Schilling,
We can only speculate, but a distant kinship with Beuys' ideas of creativity and power depots can hardly be denied. What Schilling creates are energy carriers under high voltage, which at first glance may appear like ritual relics from a culture remote from industrialization, but are extremely present on closer inspection. They appear as if they had a long and eventful… history behind them, had grown, formed over years or centuries, shaped by experiences, and at the same time they convey the impression of an almost uncanny timeless presence.

Sven Schilling
Germany
« I am an artist who works innovatively and unconventionally with familiar natural materials. Rough and delicate, nature is the teacher! Sensual art that touches. »
Sven Schilling is a German sculptor whose works explore the connection between man and nature, the integration of man into the cosmos as it is formulated in anthroposophy. His compositions are exclusively created using oak, iron, and leather because he is fascinated by their feel. Also, Schilling prefers these materials as they have significance in the history of craftsmanship as well as in religions and myths.
