My style is to scratch inkjet printed metal plates with my hands. These metal scratches sometimes become drawn lines and sometimes become textures, creating expressions unique to me that no one has ever seen before. The scratches created by breaking become beautiful art materials. Because this work uses a aluminum plate, the metal scratches give off a silvery shine.
Expressions that evoke the image of a waterfront, such as this work, are a subject… that can be considered the origin of art for me. The motif of ''water'' is perfect because the metal scratches made by my hands take on a variety of expressions.
Takashi Wakamatsu, transitioning from graphic design, masterfully manipulates inkjet-printed metal plates. His unique technique—scratching the surface—creates captivating textures and lines, both abstract and figurative in nature. His works force viewers to contemplate overlooked beauties of life, affirming his world view.
