This is a large painting/drawing created in oil pastels, charcoal and oil paint on sturdy Bristol paper. It is gestural and bold. It expresses tribal energy and mood. The artist worked fast without planning ahead, with the intent to put images on the surface that would become an extension of the vibe and the mood of that particular summer day. She was inspired by the memories of the Zuni Mountain Ridge and the New Mexico landscape that she visited…
once and was hoping to revisit again some day. The face that appears in this piece is of somebody that is a part of this space, of the hills, of the land.
