About this artwork
It is the second picture in a series of three on the theme of encounter.
The starting point was again the question of how the two colours blue and orange can meet on the picture plane.
In the first image, the two colors have evolved into beings that nestle together in a symbiotic spiral movement.
Here in the second picture I consciously wanted to create a comparison of the two colors/beings.
Thus, blue, as a bird-like, cool night creature, and… orange, as a snake-like, warm day creature, meet at a shoreline-like border.
So there is an environment that is composed of a mixture of blue and orange.
This boundary makes the individuality of the two beings visible and the very unique worlds associated with it.
This artwork is intended to capture the powerful energy and emotional expression that arises from the moment of a conscious encounter of opposing forces.
Tan-ja Graf, an artist who uses different materials and techniques, including acrylic, gouache and collage. Her art therapy roots are evident in her intuitive, emotive approach and the inclusion of different media such as drawing, photography and paper cutting. Her abstract art reflects people's individual stories and perspectives, with a strong focus on positivity and flexible perception.
