About this artwork
Have you ever been snorkeling or diving? Are you familiar with the feeling of going deep down in the water, being captive by its depth and being embraced by its texture? The feeling when the borders of your physical body kind of disappear and you become one with the water element. The surreal feeling being part os something so powerful and big that it just captivates you. And in this captivity you go deeper and deeper discovering the depth of the… ocean, discovering new forms which were unknown to you. With a curiosity of a traveller you reach the depth, diving more in and giving yourself in. But no matter how curious the trip is you always have to go back to the surface, to reach out for the life which is more usual to you in the usual form of existence.
Painting is a portal. The portal of your own depth, your own unknown part and your own undiscovered world. Dare having a look?
« Painting is a piece of energy expressed on canvas. »
Tanya Bilous is a Ukrainian artist whose works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally. She believes that painting is energy and her main objective is to infuse each piece with "divine light", acting as a channeler. Bilous' expressive and vivid landscapes, abstracts, and figurative compositions are created using oils on handmade linen canvases.
