About this artwork
Some connections don’t start in the physical world. They arrive as a feeling of recognition, as if two souls meet somewhere beyond time and then decide to carry that connection into this life, into bodies, into presence.
Soulmates was created in 2018 while I was exploring resonance between two people who recognize each other on a deeper level.
The paintings move through different moments of that connection. The first sense of familiarity. The closeness… that feels safe enough to soften. The way difference creates movement rather than distance. The way intimacy can hold tenderness, desire, vulnerability, and old scars without fear of being hurt again.
Throughout the series, union is not about losing yourself. It’s about being reshaped.
For Valentine’s Day, Soulmates becomes a gift chosen through recognition rather than logic.
« Painting is a piece of energy expressed on canvas. »
Tanya Bilous is a Ukrainian artist whose works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally. She believes that painting is energy and her main objective is to infuse each piece with "divine light", acting as a channeler. Bilous' expressive and vivid landscapes, abstracts, and figurative compositions are created using oils on handmade linen canvases.
