About this artwork
“ARISING” (2024) captures the tension between emergence and concealment, between being seen and disappearing. The figure’s face, partially obscured by bold black streaks, evokes a sense of struggle and transformation. The contrast between the raw darkness and the delicate rendering of the features symbolizes the process of self-revelation—an attempt to rise through chaos and uncertainty.
The white background, clear and silent, acts as both a pause… and a frame, intensifying the emotional impact of the work. I chose mixed media for its fluidity and unpredictability, allowing the materials to reflect the themes of fragmentation and liberation.
Inspired by moments of inner conflict and rebirth, ARISING invites the viewer to reflect on their own thresholds—those spaces where identity and emotion collide, leaving traces of both despair and hope.
