About this artwork
“ECLIPSE” is an oil and bitumen painting on wood panel that explores the interaction between light and shadow, visibility and darkness. The female figure, rendered with delicate sepia and black tones, exudes a quiet introspection, with her gaze turned downwards, as if lost in thought.
The choice of bitumen gives the work a rough, ancient texture, amplifying the emotional weight and adding a sense of timelessness. The contrast between the rich darkness… and the soft, scratched and delicately revealed points of light evokes the sensation of an eclipse—a moment of transition, where light is temporarily shrouded in shadow but not completely obliterated.
Inspired by the themes of solitude, memory and the invisible, ECLIPSE invites the viewer to stop and reflect on the hidden spaces within themselves.
This work is part of the LIMEN series, a collection that explores thresholds and moments of transformation—spaces where the visible and the invisible meet.
