This modern calligraphy-painting intertwines poetry, painting, and calligraphy to convey an experience of living within the darkest moment and sustaining resilience from within it. In the background of the work, a Persian verse is present:
“We find solace in meeting the darkest moment,
for it carries the certainty of a new dawn.”
The verse embodies the duality of despair and hope—an acceptance of suffocating darkness, paired with the awareness that… the darkest moment of the night is always accompanied by the first light of morning.
This work lingers in the experience of the darkest moment—acknowledging lived pain and suffocation, while remaining aware that immediately after this moment, dawn arrives. It presents hope as a near and inevitable certainty.
In this piece, the text is not meant to be read as a literal script but exists as part of the visual atmosphere, dissolved into the painted layers.

Tara Partovirad is an Iran-born visual artist based in Munich, whose work is shaped by migration, memory, and defiance. Rooted in self-taught painting and calligraphy, her practice unfolds through an ongoing negotiation between identity, experience, and expression.
