About this artwork
In the painting Siesta, I aimed to capture a moment of complete relaxation — one that is only possible in the stillness of a summer afternoon. The figure, sitting with closed eyes, radiates inner warmth and calm, yet is surrounded by a fantastical botanical world full of movement and life. This contrast reflects the duality of existence: the outer world in motion and the inner world in rest.
This painting explores the tension between presence and… absence, between wakefulness and inner stillness — a siesta not only of the body, but also of the soul.
