About this artwork
A medium-sized contemporary abstract painting created in a modern abstract expressionist style. The artwork is made using acrylic paint, chalk, and wax crayons, resulting in rich layered textures and subtle color transitions.
The refined muted palette of cool blues, soft greys, and warm neutral tones enhances the atmospheric depth of the composition. Horizontal and vertical elements interact to create a sense of space, balance, and suspended movement.… The painting evokes a quiet moment between motion and stillness, suggesting an abstract urban landscape or a serene natural environment without literal representation.
This contemporary abstract artwork emphasizes emotional harmony, tactile surfaces, and spatial depth, making it ideal for modern interiors, Scandinavian-style homes, loft environments, and curated contemporary art collections. It works beautifully as modern wall art for living rooms, offices, galleries, and design-focused spaces.
The artwork is coated with satin varnish.
My path into art was not traditional. I came to painting after a successful career in biology, where I earned a Ph.D. in veterinary virology and microbiology. This background continues to shape my approach — through structure, layering and attention to detail. My work focuses on layered abstraction, where color, texture and gesture create depth and movement. Rather than depicting specific subjects, I build compositions that evolve through accumulation and subtle shifts. I was born in Central Asia and now live in Norway. This contrast informs my palette: warmth and density balanced with calm, light and space. My paintings often combine these qualities, creating works that feel both grounded and atmospheric. My paintings are designed to function within interiors, bringing structure, color balance and quiet movement. Painting, for me, is a way to sustain a state of attention rather than to describe.
