About this artwork
Always pushing the boundaries of the stipple technique the artist with this piece takes this us to the brink with its complexity in the belly region. The body hair, the stretch marks, the skin's surface impressions and the lighting turn what could be simply be a picture of beauty into an intense study of patterns.

« Thrive in the struggle, that is the key to enjoying life. That is success in the pursuit of excellence. »
Ted Washington is an award-winning American draftsman whose works have been widely exhibited in the United States. He employs stippling techniques in the creation of his realistic portraits and abstractions. What makes Washington's method so unique is that he employs differing point sizes when stippling. Over a ten year period, his compositions changed from being dominated by white to black. His striking pieces are created using pen and India ink on paper.
