About this artwork
Artist’s quote
"The sand remembers, the silence responds."
Reflection on the Artwork
When the tide retreats, the sand holds its mark. The texture at the bottom is the memory of the water, a silent witness to its movement. What was once fluidity is now an imprint.
In the center, a soft light suggests what remains in absence. Light highlights the reliefs, while shadows offer a suggestion of what time has left behind. There is no noise, only the stillness… of what remains.
This painting speaks of permanence, of the traces that neither time nor absence can erase.
Here, silence is not emptiness but an answer. Only in stillness, when everything quiets down, do we truly see what remains: what is important, what truly matters.
I am Teresa Sanz Marín (Madrid, Spain), a Spanish abstract artist based in Amsterdam. I work with acrylic and mixed media techniques, creating layered compositions through a process of adding, removing, and rediscovering, allowing color, texture, and form to evolve organically. Each painting retains the visible traces of its journey: subtle marks, shifts, and decisions that become part of the work's final identity.
An important element of my work is the dialogue between image and language. Each artwork is accompanied by a title, a quote, and a short reflective text written by me — an essential part of my creative process that deepens the emotional connection between the viewer and the piece.
My work has been exhibited in the Netherlands at Blooming Gallery (Bergen, 2025), the solo window exhibition Imagine (Amsterdam, 2025), Weespers aan de Wand (Weesp, 2025), Kunstdorp aan Zee (Muiderberg, 2025), and Kunst10Daagse (Bergen, 2024).
