About this artwork
"Ecstasy" by Theodora Bernardini: An explosion of colors and sensations!
What a captivating work! In her painting "Ecstasy," Theodora Bernardini immerses us in the heart of Abstract Expressionism. The impasto technique is masterful: the oil paint on linen is rich, textured, almost sculptural.
The vibrant yellows of the floral and solar forms contrast powerfully with the passionate red of the background, while touches of deep blue and dense green… bring balance and mystery. There's an incredible raw energy and gestural freedom that perfectly capture the work's title. It's a true celebration of color and texture that resonates with our own emotions and memories. A piece that illuminates and resonates!
Théodora Bernardini was born in Poitiers and lives and works in Metz. A painter for over fifty years, registered with the Maison des Artistes in Paris since 1988, she discovered her vocation very early on. From the age of ten, she underwent intensive artistic training in drawing and painting, which she continued for thirteen years. Her early figurative works gradually led her towards a freer style, where color became essential. Inspired by the Impressionists – Gauguin, Van Gogh, Renoir, and Maurice Denis – she developed a world marked by light and chromatic vibrancy. Her series "Forests," "Rivers," "Oceans," and her famous "Blues" reflect a quest for intensity and sincerity. She exhibits regularly in France and Germany, where her work has received awards. Exploring oil, watercolor, pastel, and mixed media, she constantly seeks the balance between transparency, texture, and pictorial freedom.
