There are 2 species of gorillas: Those from West Africa (Congo, Gabon, Cameroon…), those from the East (Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda…) and 4 subspecies defined according to their place of life. (plain, mountain, swamp, forest)
The West African forest block is home to the most abundant subspecies.
These are the living beings closest to Man, after the Bonobo and the Chimpanzee, since the DNA of gorillas is 98% to 99% identical to that of humans. Gorillas… are threatened with extinction by intensive deforestation, poaching and the mining of coltan, an essential mineral for the manufacture of our mobile phones and our computers.

Thierry Bisch is a French artist who has exhibited his paintings nationally, in Spain, Singapore, Belgium, and Monaco. For the last ten years, his sole artistic statement and purpose is to sound the alarm on the collapse of wildlife, on the sixth mass extinction that is in progress. Bisch's large-format compositions are created using oils and tempera. He leaves unfished aspects where only a charcoal line is visible, symbolizing the erasure of the subject.
