About this artwork
Book Dematerialization
I chose to show the act of dematerialization and to freeze time before the book ceases to be itself.
I symbolize this journey through the action of fire.
All my preparatory work as a visual artist consists of staging the space with matter, color and light to accommodate the book before the ephemeral whole is revealed and finally immortalized by means of photography.
What is on display is exactly the installation I created… in my studio. All the materials used

Thierry Parezys, trained at the Beaux-Arts de Dunkerque, is a visual photographer and conceptual artist who began his first works around fire and materials in the 1980s. His unique technique combines ephemeral installations, controlled combustion, pigments and photography printed on art paper, belonging to the materialist movement. Through his works, he expresses human duality in the face of doubt and resilience, inviting the viewer to feel the strength of refusing to give up and the intense beauty of persistence.
