About this artwork
This work is inspired by graffiti and takes a critical look at our society and the future of our world in general. It was by observing the cave paintings of Lascaux and especially those of the Chauvet cave that I was able to grasp the relationship between Man, his environment and the representation he made of it by transcribing it on a vertical support, whether it's the wall of a cave or a wall. I wanted to experience this small-scale experience…
in this work.

« In the depths of my being I am primitive; a caveman with an enigmatic pictorial language, yet so human. My painting is part of the past, the present and the future. »
Thierry Virton is an experienced French painter who has exhibited his work nationally. He views painting as an extraordinary opportunity for emotional expression, and primarily draws on classical inspiration, though is also more recently influenced by neo-primitivist figuration and the Art Brut movement. His work is largely a representation of his own unconscious, saturated in intense colours and boasting a strong graphic quality.
