About this artwork
Driving along the Wild Atlantic Way on Ireland's west coast, one spectacular view follows another. A variety of landscapes transports the viewer to a mystical world that offers the painter endless motifs. In this coastal landscape, the visible and the invisible are connected. This is achieved through abstraction and the addition of fantastical pictorial elements. The magnificent colors reflect the land. The theme here is the fantastic in nature.…
The painting not only depicts nature but also reveals the interface where matter and energy flow into one another.

- Works on commission
Thomas Butzlaff is a painter and sculptor. He was born in West Germany and studied fine art at the University of Cologne. He combines traditional painting techniques with random processes, drawing on abstract expressionism to create surreal, colorful worlds in which figurative and abstract forms merge. His works oscillate between human representation and landscape, exploring fantastical realities and individual mythologies. He conveys a deep emotional resonance by combining visible matter with an invisible, energetic dimension to create a unique experience.
