Helmut Newton (born Helmut Neustädter 1920 – 2004 was a German-Australian photographer. He was a "prolific, widely imitated fashion photographer whose provocative, erotically charged black-and-white photos were a mainstay of Vogue and other publications." Today there' is a Helmut Newton museum in Berlin. I have been a fan of Helmuts photography since I got his very first book as a Christmas present from my mother. I have the same ecstatic few and… love his use of Film Noir shadow play and the way he dress up his models. Helmut grow up walking by the Berlin prostates on his way to school and already as a teenager he started to work for a female photographer shooting models in the 1930s. As he was jewish he had to flee the Nazis but later in life he came back to his beloved Berlin. I have as a photographer done my Newton school and have for 30 years been working inspired by his old school style.
