About this artwork
As a keen cyclist myself I was inspired to create this image back in 2011/12 for an exhibition for the 2012 Olympic Games. Called 'Velodrome' the painting depicts a packed frenzy of cyclists racing around a velodrome in search of glory. I employed techniques from Vorticism and Futurism to create a dynamic sense of movement and energy with the geometric figures sweeping from the right hand to left hand side of the canvas.
