About this artwork
In my digital artwork I immortalize an everyday object with deeper meaning. The photograph shows a manhole cover with the inscription "Bomberos", symbolizing the fire department's unceasing preparedness and selfless dedication. The rusty patina and urban texture speak of the tireless work that often remains hidden. This image is intended to bring quiet strength and steadfast vigilance into our consciousness and fill our living spaces with a spirit…
of respect and recognition.

« Photography is my personal view of things through the eye of the camera. »
Thomas Eigel is a German photographer whose works have been widely exhibited in both Belgium and Germany. He likens the photographic process to that of a cat on the hunt for a mouse, trying to catch the subject at the right moment, in the right place, and in the perfect light. Eigel believes that is it a privileged moment when the camera is released, allowing the seemingly objective world to coagulate into a subjective image.
