About this artwork
In my oil painting, you can see a female figure—this queen of comedy could be in a hospital or a mental institution. She amuses those around her, her mouth seemingly shaped like the symbol of the Identitarian movement. It could be that her message reflects our times. The global shift to the right doesn't play a major role here, since there's really nothing to fear. What harm could possibly happen to us? We're all equal, no one needs any boundaries,… so we really do have a lot to laugh about, and that makes us very happy. The whole world is caught up in the frenzy of this joy. Isn't that a wonderful thing?
Thomas Pramhas is a multi-disciplinary Austrian artist whose works have featured in exhibitions, publications, prizes and permanent collections worldwide. With previous professional experience in advertising and creative direction, he brings a polished touch to his figurative explorations of intrigue, hypocrisy and seduction. Pramhas's primary fascination is the life that lies behind facades, and he represents this artistically through a striking mix of figures, expressions and colours.
