About this artwork
On a frenetically half white painted MDF board with pine wood frame is a machine hanging down from a chain and an empty shelf. The machine has been constructed from scratch in brass with moving parts that turn in unison when turned by hand. The MDF shelf is supported with brass brackets, also constructed from scratch.

Tim Carson is a prize-winning sculptor based in the United Kingdom whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Switzerland, Portugal, Austria, Belgium, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States. Inspired by his childhood spent the Herefordshire countryside, he was fascinated by discarded machinery and old abandoned buildings. Drawn to the air of limbo surrounding these objects, which Carson now brings into his current compositions, exploring themes relating to displacement.
