About this artwork
Embedded into a painted and distressed plywood board there is a an oxidised brass fly perched on a working manually operated machine mechanism that is constructed from scratch in brass. On the board is the stenciled word 'STEN' and a spray painted fluorescent brass pendulum. The pendulum swings when pushed.

Tim Carson is a prize-winning sculptor based in the United Kingdom whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Switzerland, Portugal, Austria, Belgium, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States. Inspired by his childhood spent the Herefordshire countryside, he was fascinated by discarded machinery and old abandoned buildings. Drawn to the air of limbo surrounding these objects, which Carson now brings into his current compositions, exploring themes relating to displacement.
