About this artwork
I’m painting rapidly, as the Nubians paint their houses, to get all the emotion out with the image. I want to paint intuitively, without allowing the technique to detract from the art. In this way, I can make an impact, to draw the viewer in. For me, detail doesn’t have to be intricate: it can be a mark, a tiny section visible from an undercoat of paint, or a brush line which is left, creating another place that you can go into.
