About this artwork
"Any Right Time Any Right Place" was born when Monaghan went and saw an Al Diaz exhibition at a downtown New York City gallery and saw his triptych skateboard piece. Monaghan had a spare deck in his studio and the very next day he found two decks in the garbage on his street. A sign that it was time to make a triptych of skateboards of his own. The piece celebrates all things beautiful, timely and "in the right time and at the right place" as are…
all things if you are listening and paying attention with a quiet listening breathe.

« My work is about finding what exists in the accidental or random, finding inspiration in the dance, and celebration of the practice. This is my making process. »
Todd Monaghan explores spontaneous intuition and the subconscious mind through 'flicking, spilling, dripping, and scraping' paint into multi-layered, textural, and immersive works. The American painter and sculptor's pieces are created through impulsive movements that welcome chance and experimentation. Monaghan does not paint using an easel, instead preferring to pin his canvases to the walls of his studio. He places them on the floor and back onto the walls, searching for new discoveries every time.
