Classic (aka Coca Cola Classic) is one of the first 3 pieces from this series created after Monaghan completed his "American Beauty 911" piece for Emory University. The series was originally intended for The Goizueta Business school of which Monaghan attended while at Emory. At that time it was just Emory's Business school. The piece is made from gesso, egg shells, oil and oil pastels. It takes the iconic American trademark and puts it in space.…
At the center of the piece behind the Coke loga is the American flag, a nod Monaghan's painting "American Beauty 911".

Todd Monaghan

« My work is about finding what exists in the accidental or random, finding inspiration in the dance, and celebration of the practice. This is my making process. »
Todd Monaghan explores spontaneous intuition and the subconscious mind through 'flicking, spilling, dripping, and scraping' paint into multi-layered, textural, and immersive works. The American painter and sculptor's pieces are created through impulsive movements that welcome chance and experimentation. Monaghan does not paint using an easel, instead preferring to pin his canvases to the walls of his studio. He places them on the floor and back onto the walls, searching for new discoveries every time.
