Discover the creation in interiors
The images for Definitive were collected by Monaghan when he went to Stockholm, Sweden for a collage friend's wedding in the countryside in a castle. The piece is about beautiful witches and influences to his life. This collage is about the convergence of spiritual and physical realms in the modern world as expressed through images and words collected in both Sweden and New York City. It is a snapshot of our modern times.
The collage was… painted with paint markers after the initial collage was completed and then sealed with a coating of resin.

Todd Monaghan
United States
« My work is about finding what exists in the accidental or random, finding inspiration in the dance, and celebration of the practice. This is my making process. »
Todd Monaghan explores spontaneous intuition and the subconscious mind through 'flicking, spilling, dripping, and scraping' paint into multi-layered, textural, and immersive works. The American painter and sculptor's pieces are created through impulsive movements that welcome chance and experimentation. Monaghan does not paint using an easel, instead preferring to pin his canvases to the walls of his studio. He places them on the floor and back onto the walls, searching for new discoveries every time.
