Discover the creation in interiors
Independance Hall, spelled wrong intentionally to represent Independ (for Independence), and dance for just that, dance. Independance hall was created when Monaghan's oldest son went to art school at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. It is unclear if the discarded artwork was found in Philadelphia or if Monaghan found it in his native New York. The piece was embellished with marker and egg shell and then resinated.

Todd Monaghan
United States
« My work is about finding what exists in the accidental or random, finding inspiration in the dance, and celebration of the practice. This is my making process. »
Todd Monaghan explores spontaneous intuition and the subconscious mind through 'flicking, spilling, dripping, and scraping' paint into multi-layered, textural, and immersive works. The American painter and sculptor's pieces are created through impulsive movements that welcome chance and experimentation. Monaghan does not paint using an easel, instead preferring to pin his canvases to the walls of his studio. He places them on the floor and back onto the walls, searching for new discoveries every time.
