About this artwork
Prime Time 4 Love was painted as a pallet piece to Monaghan's Water Guard sculpture. The piece is created with the rust that washed off of the sculpture and then worked with a black pen. Looking into the piece and you will see the familiar faces in spirits that appear in most of Monaghan's more surrealistic works.

« My work is about finding what exists in the accidental or random, finding inspiration in the dance, and celebration of the practice. This is my making process. »
Todd Monaghan explores spontaneous intuition and the subconscious mind through 'flicking, spilling, dripping, and scraping' paint into multi-layered, textural, and immersive works. The American painter and sculptor's pieces are created through impulsive movements that welcome chance and experimentation. Monaghan does not paint using an easel, instead preferring to pin his canvases to the walls of his studio. He places them on the floor and back onto the walls, searching for new discoveries every time.
