Profiling, which was created by Monaghan in 2018, is a further exploration into black and white done moving in a very purplige direction. The piece address what it is to "profile" in the new digital age. This piece is especially poignant in the Covit 19 era when our digital profile is even more important and even more of what we put out there in the world. Looking into the piece you will see various faces, as you do in most of Monaghan's work,…
putting out there best face. Their first face forward. The mask they choose to show to the world. Egg shells are used in the work to create depth a common tool in Monaghan's work.

Todd Monaghan

« My work is about finding what exists in the accidental or random, finding inspiration in the dance, and celebration of the practice. This is my making process. »
Todd Monaghan explores spontaneous intuition and the subconscious mind through 'flicking, spilling, dripping, and scraping' paint into multi-layered, textural, and immersive works. The American painter and sculptor's pieces are created through impulsive movements that welcome chance and experimentation. Monaghan does not paint using an easel, instead preferring to pin his canvases to the walls of his studio. He places them on the floor and back onto the walls, searching for new discoveries every time.
