About this artwork
"Noctambulist" is based on a recurring dream I used to have while living in Bucharest. I would fly over the city at night — not like a superhero, but like it was the most natural thing in the world. Every time I’d think: why didn’t I always do this? It’s so easy.
The figure in the painting just landed on a rooftop under a full moon. She has the body of a woman, alert and grounded, but the head of an owl — sharp, aware, nocturnal. The architecture,… inspired by the old domed rooftops of the city, adds a quiet sense of place. Everything is still, almost frozen in that liminal moment between flying and waking.
This piece is about that feeling of freedom: a bit strange, a bit serene — and oddly familiar.
