About this artwork
Abstract landscape, part of the cycle "From Roots to Heaven" which represents an abstract treatise on the complexity of life's paths and starting points through the parables of nature. I perceive the forest as a community of life, trees as a symbol of growth, tree roots and branching crowns as symbols of complexity, finding starting points in the form of verticals pointing upwards and actually in all directions into space.
The painting is painted… with acrylic paints and inks using a special author's technique of dissolving and washing out colors on a structured surface.
Tomáš Holub, a Czech painter and visual artist with a background in geodesy, interior design, and jewelry, works primarily with painting and collage. He crafts abstract, multi-layered paintings using his own primers, emphasizing harmonious, poetic surfaces marked by time’s changes, often applying Wabi Sabi principles, brushes, sponges, and even scraping techniques. His style contrasts Zen-like forest abstractions with witty, hand-cut fashion collages. Through symbols of birds, forests, and energetic forms, he channels themes of community, growth, and complexity. His art radiates tranquility and positive energy, inviting viewers to reconnect with themselves and the natural world.
