About this artwork
My "Everyday Objects" series continues with this retro black and white TV showing the title frame of one of my favorite TV shows I used to watch when I was a kid. I could have chosen a number of TV show titles - The Beverly Hillbillies, Leave It To Beaver, The Dick Van Dyke show, Bonanza - there were quite a few that we would gather round the TV and watch as a family. But I did indeed love Lucy - as her crazy antics and money-making schemes constantly… led to problems with hilarious outcomes. Those days are long gone but the memory of this painting helps to keep a few alive! I created this piece using vibrant acrylics to capture the nostalgic charm of classic pop culture. The vintage television frame, rendered in realistic detail, celebrates the warmth and simplicity of old-time entertainment. This artwork radiates cheerful energy, inviting you to relive joyful memories while adding a lively, retro atmosphere to your space. It’s a loving tribute to timeless moments that connect us all.
« I love to paint the impossible, or at least the highly improbable. I want my work to make you think, if it brings a smile to your face, that's even better. »
Tom Blood is an award-winning American artist whose paintings have been exhibited in the United States. Inspired by surrealism, especially by the works of René Magritte, many of his paintings have featured a man in a bowler hat, which is part of his on-going homage to the Belgian master. Blood enjoys painting "what seemed like it couldn't be, only it looked like it actually was".
