About this artwork
A girl in a maroon colored dress walks along a pathway that leads into the woods with her Best Friend Forever - her teddy bear. The two walk hand in paw, ready for whatever awaits them. I originally thought this painting would be a bit more ominous, but the more I got into it, the more I realized there is a certain trust that is being shown here. They walk unafraid, down a path that leads into the woods that have all shed their leaves except for… a few stragglers still hanging on to a few branches. I wish that we would all have the same hope as we move forward into the future, knowing that whatever awaits us, it's going to be all right.
This painting would be great in a child's bedroom or playroom. Yet its appeal isn't simply to children. The cool thing about art is that it can seem perfectly logical for a teddy bear to be walking down a path with a young girl. Yes, it's fantasy. But it also seems very real.
« I love to paint the impossible, or at least the highly improbable. I want my work to make you think, if it brings a smile to your face, that's even better. »
Tom Blood is an award-winning American artist whose paintings have been exhibited in the United States. Inspired by surrealism, especially by the works of René Magritte, many of his paintings have featured a man in a bowler hat, which is part of his on-going homage to the Belgian master. Blood enjoys painting "what seemed like it couldn't be, only it looked like it actually was".
