urban spaces. Whereas the caravan used to be a symbol of social advancement, today it stands for prostitution and emergency accommodation. The caravan becomes an object that shows us that the gap between rich and poor is growing, and yet it remains a place of poetry.

The German artist Tom Gefken was born in Bremen in 1960, where he still lives today. He is a founding member of the Galerie des Westens GaDeWe in Bremen and works as a freelance artist in a variety of areas including painting, assemblage, object and installation.
Gefken's works have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad.
His works can be seen in public spaces.
