About this artwork
Inspired by the images from the Hubble and James Webb telescopes, as well as the recent lunar orbit by NASA's Artemis 2 crew, I've been pondering the mysteries of the cosmos that we humans face. I'm also interested in how people of the past reacted to the heavens and erected stone circles to calculate the passage of time and the positions of the sun and stars.

Tom Peter is a self-taught painter currently studying illustration at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg) and primarily works with oil on gesso board or canvas. His technique ranges from delicate details to impasto, expressive applications of color, inspired by the painters of Romanticism and Symbolism. His works open doors to mythological and fantastical worlds, conveying a sense of reverie and a welcome respite from everyday life.
