About this artwork
In this piece, I set out to capture the quiet magic of dusk as a winding river gently guides the eye toward a distant, mist-shrouded town. I treated the expressive silhouettes of the twisted tree trunks as the primary actors on a stage. Standing boldly in the foreground, their dark, sculptural forms frame the scene and create a strong sense of depth.
Technically, the artwork thrives on contrast—the warm, glowing sunset light bouncing off the water’s… surface against the deep, rich values of the riverbanks and foliage. Using layered washes and precise dark brushwork, I aimed to convey both the soft atmospheric haze on the horizon and the tactile, organic texture of the nature up close.
Curator's Note: Part of the 'Selected Originals' series by Tomas Bajorūnas. Created on museum-grade Saunders Waterford, Baohong or Hahnemuhle 300gsm paper using lightfast White nights/Holbein/Daniel Smith pigments. Includes a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

I paint what I miss, what I can’t quite see, or what simply slipped away—the things I yearn for and want to embrace. Because these moments are so fleeting, I can only recreate them from memory or a frozen photograph, using the fluid, delicate nature of watercolor to bring them to life. Sharing these personal stories through international exhibitions has allowed me to connect with people worldwide. Ultimately, I just want to capture a sense of quiet clarity that viewers can take with them.
