About this artwork
The artist's intention is describe human condition in comedic way. On this particular piece, the artist express his feeling he experience often that anyone can relate. We all feel trap in our daily routine and feeling stagnant time to time.
The body of figure is made of polymer resin and colored with alcohol inks. Hands, feet, and limbs are hand fabricated copper sheets tubes and wires. The artist made articulated joints and sealed permanently… with fixative after he achieved desired gesture of the figures. Almost 100 holes are made in the joints to make a figure. The sculpture is freestanding on steel base with magnets.

Tomoaki Orikasa is an American sculptor whose works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States. He believes that simplicity and minimalism emphasize beauty and the messages inherent in his art, regardless of the organic or mechanical elements they are composed of. Orikasa primarily creates using non-ferric metals and steel, applying the casting and fabrication techniques that he acquired from jewelry making, mold making, blacksmithing, and bronze casting.
