The eternal dilemma that arises from the portrait-identity binomial, repetition, manipulation
Genetics and cloning are the constants that have marked my latest works and those concepts are what give rise to "Gestation"
It is a work that, being extremely contemporary, aesthetically has a markedly baroque character, the small pieces of resin gilded by hand and the red velvet mattress on which they are presented demonstrate this.
The 22 sculptures… of human fetuses in an initial state of their formation, are shown to the viewer apparently vulnerable and defenseless, but the material used gives them a
strange feeling of consistency that makes them look like gold bars.
The work tells us about cloning and genetic manipulation, makes us visible a
phase of the origin of life that normally remains hidden from us and is
symbolically, an enhancement of a primitive state of human existence.
