About this artwork
With this work, the artist wanted to pay tribute to classical art and culture through the representation of Socrates, considered one of the greatest philosophers of both Western and universal philosophy.
It is part of a large project developed in recent years, in which it uses sculptural references from different periods to generate a pictorial work based on superimposing and removing layers of paint, so that the viewer can visualize the final result… as if it were a stratigraphic sequence of an archaeological site, which simultaneously shows us the process of its creation.
In this case, the work is painted on three Super Alfa papers of 250 grams of natural beards and 76 x 112 cm each, which are joined to measure a total of 228 x 112 cm.
The work has been shown in the Museo Ciudad de Mula, within the exhibition "Faces and lies" and is documented in the catalog published on the occasion of the same.
