About this artwork
Layers of coral, peach, soft pink, and pale gold create an atmospheric field where gestures appear and recede within a unified surface. Built through scraping, brushing, and repeated revision, the painting holds traces of what came before, allowing earlier marks to remain as part of its quiet structure.
Nothing fully resolves. Instead, the composition moves between presence and disappearance,… inviting the eye to wander through shifting passages of color, light, and line. The result is a painting that feels both luminous and deeply layered, where the process of making remains visible without overwhelming the stillness of the whole.

« The practice of giving up on perfection and accepting the beauty of the unexpected when I paint has helped me do the same in my everyday life. »
Working primarily in oil and often at a large scale, she begins with color rather than form, allowing gesture and sensation to lead.
The process is physical and immersive. Rather than correcting or forcing resolution, she trusts the internal logic that develops within the painting itself.
Her recent series, Open, Not Broken, explores moments of suspension, endurance, and return. These works hold vulnerability without collapse and openness without fracture, creating spaces where something quiet but enduring can remain.
Pitts lives and works in the United States.
