About this artwork
The artwork is about the myth of Hippodamia. In Greek mythology, Hippodamia was described as the daughter of Atrax or Butes, and was the bride of King Pirithous of the Lapiths. At the wedding of Hippodamia and Pirithous, the Centaurs had been invited.Unused to wine, Centaurs wild nature came to the fore. When bride was presented to greet the guests, Centaur Eurytion leapt up and attempted to abduct her.

Experienced Bulgarian artist Tsanko Tsankov has always been inspired by the works of the Old Masters, Rubens, Rembrandt and Velazquez. His artworks predominantly depict the female nude, capturing the emotions and sensations of his mythological and mortal subjects. Each piece is layered and transformative, full of movement and mystery. Imaginary worlds disappearing in the distance and revealing themselves to the viewer.
