About this artwork

I am the king, everyone looks only at me. All the girls cannot walk by so as not to turn around. I'm too picky to go on dates with everyone, they need my attention. But everyone grows old, wither and wither. And the age of a gentle, proud peony is so short-lived. Oh, the first petal has already fallen.

Technique: canvas / cotton stretcher, material is acrylic. The flower is covered with glossy varnish, which creates additional volume on the matte… surface.

Maria Tuzhilkina is an artist based in Spain whose paintintgs have been exhibited nationally and in Russia. She describes her cubist works as "decomposing each object into its components", imbuing them with geometric shapes. In addition, Tuzhilkina endeavors to convey how color affects the shape of an object, and vice versa. Her vivid compositions are most often created with acrylics on canvas.
